John Chandler, Sacramento Scalp Micropigmentation Artist

Meet John Chandler, the artist and founder behind Scalp Co. in Sacramento. John has worked in scalp micropigmentation (SMP) since 2016, helping clients create the appearance of a closely shaved hairline, add visual density to thinning areas, and soften the contrast of some scalp scars.

SMP is a cosmetic tattooing technique designed for the scalp. It does not grow hair. The goal is a natural-looking result that fits each client’s features, existing hair, skin tone, and preferred style.

John’s approach to SMP

Every treatment starts with a conversation about what you want to change and what kind of look you want to maintain. John assesses the scalp, hair-loss pattern, skin, and any previous procedures before discussing a suitable plan. Hairline shape and pigment tone are considered carefully so the finished look works with your features and feels appropriate for you.

John believes clients should understand the process before they decide. At a consultation, you can ask about treatment options, the number of sessions, healing and aftercare, and what SMP can realistically achieve in your case. There is time to talk through your goals and preferences before any treatment begins.

Experience and training

John began his SMP career in 2016 and developed his technique through hands-on clinic work and continued practice. His background includes training and clinical experience in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where he also served as a clinic manager. Today he works with clients at Scalp Co.’s Sacramento studio and shares his experience through SMP education.
